"Out of the Mouth of Babes"

This past saturday, I went to work.  I was there to watch Sarah and Kate while Leatham and his dad went and had some fun.  In my job, I often times have "teaching moments" with the kids.  But this particular time really struck me, and helped me to realize my own testimony on this particular subject. I'll just write out our conversation.

I cant exactly remember how we got on the subject, but I was teasing Leatham about coming to live with me. And he said he wanted to , I told him "wouldnt you miss your family?" and he said "yes of course but I can come visit". Then he turned the conversation, he asked me about eternal marriage, and how families are forever. I then explained about the temple, in the way I knew he could understand. He then asked me" What happens if a mommy dies or a daddy dies and you get a new mommy or daddy? What happens then? You cant love them both? What if you only want your old mommy or daddy?" I was so shocked by his questions, he has never asked me anything so...deep, for such a little guy.  So I answered the best way I knew how" Well, Leatham, In the temple we can become forever families, and that allows us to be together forever.  So even if something that unfortunate happens and we lose our mommy or daddy or any of our family members, Heavenly Father has promised if we keep his commandments and are worthy, we can have them as ours forever." he said " but what about our step mom and dad? what about them?" so i said " We can still love them as our parents too, and sometimes we are sealed to them, and sometimes we arent, but either way Heavenly Father is pretty smart, and he knows what to do to make sure everyone is happy forever. I dont know exactly how it will all work out in the end, but I do know that Heavenly Father loves each one of his children and knows what to do about each and every family situation." He then said he understood, and got ready to leave.  Saying those things to him, and bearing my testimony to him, helped me to appreciate how blessed I am to have a forever family, and how much I want to start my own eterenal kingdom, with someone I think is amazing. I was grateful for that moment, Its those moments that help me see, how truly special Heavenly Father thinks each of his children are.
